Blog Entry #3: Creating Your Own Copyrighted Podcast

Our group worked very hard, taking our time, to complete our podcast. It demonstrates the laws of copyright infringement and piracy.
The sources we used are biding by copyright laws in the way we are using it because as we used our own picture, we analyzed, that is our original work. The music used in our podcast was pre-downloaded, therefore it was not copied. This shows what we have learned on copyright laws, and how to create a piece of work without pirating or copyrighting.
In my opinion, I believe downloading music illegally is wrong in some way, but then again it is okay to download music because you are actually supporting that artists' music. There can be consequences due to downloading music illegally depending on where and when the music is downloaded. So looking at the consequences, downloading music is wrong.
I think copyright laws should exist for many reasons. Copyright laws are here to let individuals know that a piece of work is not allowed to be copied after a certain amount of time. Some people might come to the understanding that if the work can't be copied after a certain amount of time then why is there even a copyright law? There can be many arguments to if copyright laws should exist, but the point is that copyright laws do exist, and we respect that to this day.
There are cost and benefits to particular actions made. Piracy is suppose to have a huge economic impact on many people, but do people let it be that way? There is a lot of help given to people, but we should be able to make some judgment concerning whether the costs exceed the benefits of piracy. This still makes piracy very prevalent to our society today though because of the high economic and social issues taken place.
If someone were to use my graphic or podcast without permission, I'd feel framed. For someone to use someone else's creation of work is reclining against that certain individual. I have created a podcast to look good upon me, not anyone else. With this question being asked, it actually makes me understand more of why there is copyright and piracy laws. Copyright laws makes you appreciate what you have done and created as an person, a student, and an entity.
