In my opinion, I believe that the copyright law means that you cannot copy or use another’s work without a certain amount of time that it has been published. For example if a book says copyright, 1994, you cannot copy that information until a amount of years after that. In relation to the Internet, copyright means that you cannot copy and paste anything that is researched or written.
Copyright keeps your creative work from no longer being creative work. It helps you as an individual to follow the law, and as well as for you to become a better writer, and to write on your own instead of taking the idea or writing from somewhere else or someone. You may think of stealing as putting something in your pocket and running, but copyright is also known as stealing. It is a law that is very easy to break, but if you count on yourself, you won’t have the problem of breaking the law, or counting on someone else.
Most people might think that copyright can be used with only words. Well as I found an example of copyright, I have found a picture of Obama, and someone has taken the photo and edited it from photoshop. If you look at this link, www.sethfrank.com, it tells you how this is copyrighted. This person is breaking the copyright law because he/she is taking a photo from google, saving it, uploading it to photoshop, and editing it. This could also be known as copyright infringement, unauthorized use of works under copyright.
Seth Frank states, ". In my mind this is fair use and something creative based on cultural influences." "Interestingly enough the artist states that he just did a Google image search and riffed off it." "We absolutely need to fix our copyright law in favor of the artist and creator." Seth Frank has a point, but in the real world the law is the law, and if you break the law, you earn a consequence. If Seth were to get caught, he could be punished with a total retail value of over $1,000 within a 180-day period, for purposes of private financial gain, and may be subject to criminal penalties.
So copyright may be fair in some ways, but as of the example I gave, I think it is not fair due to it being the law. Breaking the law puts yourself in a situation that can give you a consequence you wont't ever expect, so as for Seth Frank, he will never know what is coming next.
